Background History of AIM
AIM is the American Indian Movement.  It was founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1968 by Dennis Banks, Eddie Benton Banai, Clyde Bellecourt, and George Mitchell. AIM is a civil rights activist organization in order to establish nationwide recognition of their standing treaties and rights within the American government. The main objectives of AIM is to regain control of Native American land and people, preservation of their traditions and culture, and enforce all the treaties that have been disregarded by the U.S government.
